The Grind & The Glory In 5 Words
Yesterday, I featured a post about one of the contributors- Mikal Caldwell. It’s been a project in the making longer than you’ll ever know. So how do I describe this ebook? What’s a tagline? There are many ways, but here it is in five words. Ready? Are you sure? This may cause you to be really happy or really mad! Here it is…..
Turn Your Frustration Into Fruit
You Can Do This
Cuba Gooding Jr (as Ben Carson) and Cicely Tyson (as Ben’s mother) have an ever familiar moment in the movie Gifted Hands. Ben is worried about the upcoming procedure and has doubt about his ability to perform the operation successfully. Ms. Carson gracefully encourages Ben that he can do the the unimaginable task with the Siamese twins.
In moments of uncertainty we need a support system that helps to push us. Watch and be inspired.
Enlarge Your Capacity
Take time today to discover new opportunities today that perhaps you didn’t know about. You have potential to do great things in life. Never underestimate your God-given talent. Your ability to overcome certain obstacles is evident of your will to win.
Here are five things that help me grow:
1. Prayer.
6-7Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life. (Philippians 4:6-7, The Message)
2. God’s word. Reading the word is not an option. It’s a constant source hope and encouragement.
105-112 By your words I can see where I’m going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path. (Psalm 119:105, The Message)
3. Encouragers. We were designed to be relational. Creating solid, healthy relationships is vital. They help you to see things that you may overlook. These relationships can also be a source of inspiration.
4. Reflection. Observing where you’ve come from is important, because it helps you to better understand where you are in life. Looking back is good, yet don’t look back too long. Keep your focus on things that are before you.
5. Reading. When I taught middle and high school, I constantly reminded my students to read. One of my favorite lines was “readers are leaders.”
Reading exposes you, stretches you, and challenges you to new ideas about life.
In short fashion, these five tips may be of help to you to enlarge your capacity.
Thank God For Freedom In Christ!
I’m grateful for the freedom I have in Christ! The passage below from The Message Bible is my FREEDOM banner in the word. Thank God for the new life in Christ.
16-20Because of this decision we don’t evaluate people by what they have or how they look. We looked at the Messiah that way once and got it all wrong, as you know. We certainly don’t look at him that way anymore. Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life burgeons! Look at it! All this comes from the God who settled the relationship between us and him, and then called us to settle our relationships with each other. God put the world square with himself through the Messiah, giving the world a fresh start by offering forgiveness of sins. God has given us the task of telling everyone what he is doing. We’re Christ’s representatives. God uses us to persuade men and women to drop their differences and enter into God’s work of making things right between them. We’re speaking for Christ himself now: Become friends with God; he’s already a friend with you. (2 Corinthians 5:17, The Message)
