I posted part one of Brand vs Filter last month. I didn’t think that it would be this long before I reflected back on the topic, but something is brewing in me that I can’t quite explain.
The three words that I remember the most from the earlier post are: “change, impact, action.” Filters, in my opinion, have the unique ability to get people headed in the direction that they want to go. Not forced, not persuaded, not even manipulated. But because of their unique ability to inspire people to look inwardly at their own potential to dream like never before that cause people to CHANGE, ACT, and undoubtedly make an impact within their sphere of influence.
What does this have to do with The Grind & The Glory? I’m glad you asked.
Filters, release what’s good only because they were willing to keep back all the bad stuff in their “filter.” A water filter is not best known for how good it looks. Instead filters are known for how much great tasting water they release.
If we are to be quality filters. We must learn how to release the fruit from our frustrations. I know we’ve all had some very difficult episodes in life. These historical events only have an impact on our future if we allow them to control our next steps.
We should make it our goal to become quality filters in the earth so that others may not look at us, but at themselves to become all that God intended them to be.
The process of the e-book has been insightful, confusing, eye-opening, insightful, frustrating, perplexing, a joy and fruitful…..such is life!
We all have this happy versus hardship mentality at times. I am not sure who said it first, but I have heard it a million times- it’s not what happens to you, but how you respond to what happens to you that determines your success.
Make a decision today to turn whatever it is around to work for your advantage.
Just over a month ago, I made a blog post including the song below about Freedom in Christ.
As men, we have a place, or better yet, a moment when certain things must cease. Whether they be childish behavior, poor money decisions, dishonesty, poor communication skills, lack of work ethic, etc; somethings just have to come to an end. Why? The full demonstration of all that God has intended for us to be will be stunted by our stubborness if we don’t let go of whatever is holding us back.
Letting go is not as easy done, as it is said. That’s why it’s key for us to rely on God’s help to assist us in all areas, especially those where we have the most struggle. Our past is just that- the past. While I write to you, I’m encouraging myself to push past whatever IT is to be all that God has purposed in life for us to be.
The official Twitter hashtag for the e-book The Grind And The Glory is #grindandglory. Use it and tell your story about turning your frustrations into fruit!
You never know who may be inspired to overcome a similar situation in their life. Strength is renewed when what could have made you bitter has made you better.
