Go Serve!

I really value the service message from President -elect Obama. I personally believe Dr. King’s life stood for service. We al= l should find some tangible way to commemorate his life by serving the needs of others. Parades are good, but how can we translate that energy to impa= ct our communities in a positive manner? GO SERVE!There are so many ways this can be done: volunteering at a food bank, doing house chores for= an elderly person, a child and family picking out their clothes to take to= a homeless shelter, assisting with neighborhood cleanup, etc. There are endless ways service can happen.

I’m excited about our first community service project! I’ll post more later…

Are You A Hero?

Are you a hero? There’s a buzz going on about the series that CNN has put together. Watch this brief interview with John Legend. In the last sentence he states that he likes the purpose of this effort because it challenges people to ask themselves….:”How much of yourself are you willing to give?”

Now ask yourself how much are you willing to give to what God has called you to do? If you’re not willing to give your all, you may not be a hero. Think about it. Now press play.

Big Ups For City Rescue Mission!

OK I admit….I failed to post a blog yesterday! But today I want to give a huge shout out for City Rescue Mission here in Jacksovnille. It has been extremely cold here. It’s almost as if we skipped Fall and move directly into Winter. The Florida Times- Union highlighted the significant work of CRM in a way that really made me glad to see that there are many groups out their doing phenomenal work for those less fortunate. While I’m sure that there are many others wotking in the same capacity, CRM really stood out..

Jesus said in Matthew 25:35 For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.

This was the living Gospel on display. Keep up the good work CRM! To read the article click the link below. I’ve also posted this to my Facebook page.
