Let us begin. What exactly is crowd funding? According to Wikipedia, Crowd funding:

describes the collective cooperation, attention and trust by people who network and pool their money and other resources together, usually via internet, to support efforts initiated by other people or organizations.

I think this is pretty simple and straightforward. Do you have another definition? Let me know.

For the remainder of this post, let us focus on how to get the money you need to turn your ideas on. I could write several different posts on how to make this happen. For your sake and my sake, let us look at the platforms to receive the money to Go with the thing you want to do. Cool?

There are several different outlets to pitch your ideas. I am going to share a few with you:

SeeYourImpact.org

33Needs.org

Kickstarter

Rockethub

RocketHub for The Orchard from Vladimir Vukicevic on Vimeo.

Crowdrise

Pozible.com

Pozible from Pozible on Vimeo.

Okay. By no means is this list exhaustive. This was only an attempt to show you the options to get the word out regarding your need to make a difference. With the help of family, friends, and the crowd who knows what will happen.

My sharing is not an endorsement of either of these projects. I haven’t participated in a crowd funding effort. However, if I’m going to be successful with my event in Jacksonville, I may have too one day.

Crowd funding definitely seems doable. Just look at the videos above. They make it look easy. I am sure there is a lot of work required to pull off a successful fundraiser.

Have you ever led/participated in a successful crowd funding project? Leave a comment below.
