Gene Sperling From Bloomberg On The JOBS Act

I hope your day has been well. Just in case you needed more information about the JOBS Act that I posted about yesterday. Here is a clip from Bloomberg that will help to shed more light on the topic.

Effort. Raising Funds. The JOBS Act.

Effort is what sets most apart from others. How much or less we put into our goals will be the determining factor at the end of the day as it relates to the sum total of our efforts.

While energy applied to our projects is good. How we channel that energy is the key. Now there may be a greater way that the effort we put into raising funds will be expanded.

Yesterday, President Barack Obama signed the JOBS Act which has the potential to be a game changer for crowdfunded start ups. Why? Because it will potentially give the investors (the crowd) of our projects an opportunity to become share holders within the businesses they help to fund. Not only this, but used as equity to seek bank loans.

I do not know if there has ever been a unique act like this before that would assist startups.

While the President signing the bill is a milestone. A greater one, perhaps, is the fact that this was a bipartisan effort. We all should be happy about this. Yet, there is still more to be done before the bill fully goes into law- most of which has to be done by the Securities and Exchange Commission passing regulations.

Again, this potentially could be a game changer for small business owners. Especially for those who are putting effort into raising funds to fulfill their dreams.

App Next Steps

This post may not mean much in the grand scheme of BlogX. However, I am committed to the process. Further, as a follow up to my kick-off yesterday I completed my business plan minutes ago.

This is key moving forward. I have been communicating via email with a potential seed investor (PSI) about the prototype. Fortunately, they appear to be attentive to what is possible. Much to my surprise I got an ask for my business plan.

I am not sure who said it…”if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” True statement. Even if you don’t know all the details a guide is better than not having one. This will help to navigate your thoughts and actions. Plans help to add structure to our ideas. The effort put into it is a sign of your commitment to the project. I look forward to hearing back from the PSI.

I hope to be able to share more exciting news as it relates to the development of my app.

Even if my plan is rejected, I made the attempt. This is what counts right?

Kicking Off The Campaign

Today is the day that I kick off my campaign to raise the necessary funds to build my app.

Earlier this year I participated in a business competition where I pitched my idea about a web-based/mobile app. My idea was not selected to place nor did I win. However, my desire to build and launch an app remains. My blog is one of the platforms I am using to get the word out about the app.

Exactly what will the app do? Motivate and inspire people to turn their frustrations into assets. This app will be one of the largest pick-me-up-when-I’m-down tools you have ever seen. Yep, and it will be all right in your pocket. So buy a square today and let’s help change lives.

Shoulda Coulda Woulda

You hold on to the thin pieces of steel.

You grip ever so tightly, that imprints are left in the palm of your hands.

You are not alone. There are others along side of you. You don’t consider yourself a gang. But looking at the imprints of your hands, you might as well be.

You contemplate and agonize, but your feelings of uncomfortableness never cause you to take action.

You live in a state of regret, constantly watching.

You inwardly despise people when you see others that are doing what you are supposed to be doing. But actually you’re hating on yourself.

You and your spouse are tired of your one more “brand new idea” for the 50th time this year.

You are not the biggest loser, because you haven’t attempted anything.

You are a fence hugger.

That’s right. Someone that clings to shoulda, coulda, woulda! (did I spell that right?)

  • Fence huggers are obsessed with the paralysis of analysis.
  • Fence huggers never try anything, except sayings like “I’m gonna.”
  • Fence huggers are too afraid to take step one.
  • Fence huggers blame everyone else for their problems.
  • Fence huggers are often consumed with anxiety about being stuck like chuck. :) That’s not funny :( It’s sad.
  • Fence huggers are ________ (you fill in the blank).
  • Fence huggers read a post like this and don’t leave a comment.

Are you a fence hugger?
