This past weekend, I had the privilege of witnessing a remarkable testimony of faith, will, and determination.
My great-grandmother will be 100 years young this year 🙂 That’s right, 100 years young!
My family celebrated the life of a phenomenal woman. We celebrated yesterday, however, her birthday is December 24. My great-grandmother has always been a very sweet, loving, and caring person. I don’t believe she could ever have enemies.
Throughout her life she always stressed the importance of faith and trust in God. The more I think of her emphasis on trusting in the Lord, I can’t help but think of one word- LEGACY.
As a father, I see the importance of leaving something for my sons. Something that can’t be erased. A mark, a sign, something that says, daddy left us …………! While I’m in no rush to see my great-grandmother transition in life. I do see that she is leaving something with me that I will never forget- A Legacy of Faith.
I don’t think children should be left to figure life out on their own. Sure, some discoveries will happen by themselves. But others, should be taught. Better yet, instilled! I represent the fourth generation that holds the banner “as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” This message is one that was passed down from generation to generation of relying on God.
Was I excited to see my sons witness the event? You better believe it! While they didn’t understand the full magnitude of what was taking place. The story will be told to them so that they never forget.
I could write more about what took place- the songs, the reflections, the laughter, the FOOD 🙂 None of these compare in my mind about the intangible that I’ve received that’s out of the world (literally).
As we move forward, let’s not forget to leave something behind for the next generation that yields the precious fruit of righteousness- FAITH.
