Upcoming Service Projects

It’s that time of year again. Well, it’s always a good time to give thanks. Really, it’s a commandment to do so. The bible clearly states in I Thessalonians 3:15 “In everything give thanks.”

For some reason, it appears to me as if the notion of being thankful and giving back to serve our communities resonates more during the latter part of the year more than any other time.

This year my plan is to participate in a few projects to help bring hope to students and families in Jacksonville.

1. I’m leading a project for at one of the local Salvation Army centers to help package food items.

2. Northwestern Middle School Christmas care package project.

3. Yep, Hope Woodson, is on and poppin’ again.

It is interesting that volunteerism and service go up during the holiday season. In talking with some of our local social service ministries, I am told their biggest need is after the holidays when the dreary winter days of January are at hand. I would challenge everyone to consider serving during the holidays and then schedule a time to serve again in January or February. Then, consider making it a regular part of the weekly or monthly schedule. Thanks, Dewitt, for keeping such needs in the forefront.

True! I'm looking into some other opportunities to serve at the beginning of the year. Thanks for stopping by Randy.
